New NatWest systems fault meant hundreds of thousands of Apple iPhone and iPad users were unable to use
banking app

Another IT glitch at NatWest meant that hundreds of thousands of customers could not access their banking app via Apple iPhone
and iPad devices this morning.
NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland customers
took to Twitter to express their irritation - the lender has more than 1million users of the
app, though a spokesman has now confirmed - as of midday - the problem has
been fixed.
John A tweeted to the @NatWest_Help feed: 'I've been trying to get onto app all day
now with no joy?? (iTunes app)'.

Sorry: NatWest apologised on Twitter to users who are still struggling to access
the app - customers are meant to be able to send money to
anyone with a Visa card via its app
'Really?!?! #natwest really really loosing my patience!!
Can't check my balance now!!' wrote customer Emma Pudsey.
Sam Coleman tweeted: 'Natwest helpful banking???? Really!!!!
Then why can't I log on #natwest #angry.'
The bank apologised to users saying: 'The Android app is working now, and we're working on the others urgently.'
A spokesman told This is Money: 'All our mobile banking applications are now running normally.
We apologise again for the inconvenience caused to our customers.'

Chaos at cash machines: Computer fault halts RBS withdrawals...while boss picks up £700k bonus
Smartphone app means NatWest and RBS customers can now text
cash to friends and family - without bank details
A Which? spokesperson commented: 'Consumers and businesses alike
rely on mobile banking services to access their accounts and consumers will rightly want to be assured that their money is accessible and safe at all times.
'The problems caused by the RBS mobile banking glitch
will raise wider questions about how robust
and up to date banks' IT systems are.'
This latest IT problem followed weeks after the banking group apologised to customers for its second computer hitch in a
year.
A hardware fault left RBS Group customers blocked from using cashpoints for several hours in early
March, while online and telephone banking services were also disrupted.
RBS Group said previously that the computer fault, which affected RBS,
NatWest and Ulster Bank customers, was unrelated to a huge IT meltdown it had last summer which left customers unable to use their accounts
properly and cost the group £175million to put right.
Last October, NatWest also had to suspend a feature on its mobile phone app called
GetCash, after the service was subject to a spate of 'phishing' attacks by fraudsters.
NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland customers are able to send money to other people
via their mobile phones after the lender launched
a new mobile cash transfer service earlier this month, using
the smartphone app.
It means that as well as checking their own details and
transferring cash between their own accounts, they can use their phones or tablets to make a payment
of up to £100 to anyone with a Visa card by entering a mobile number.
It is available for customers to download as an upgrade to the existing mobile
banking app for Android, iPhone and BlackBerry, with an enhanced version of
the Windows phone app due to be released soon.

Finally back home more than two weeks after winning the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor in Ukraine, four members of Team Aster
are now in quarantine in China after exposure to a person with COVID-19.
Kee Chyuan "ChYuaN" Ng revealed the news
on Twitter on Tuesday, stating that government officials informed the players that someone on their flight back
from Finland tested positive for the coronavirus at the heart of a global pandemic
that has brought much of the globe's sports and finances to a
halt.
"We were informed by government officials that someone on our flight back from Finland has been tested positive for COVID-19,"
ChYuaN tweeted. "All 4 of us except SCCC will be under quarantined in a designated centre in isolation.
"Since we got back from Kyiv, we've been under home quarantine, therefore we're only going to be there until the 29th.
"We've done our part to take necessary safety precaution while travelling. Hopefully there'll be a silver lining to this unfortunate situation."
Along with ChYuan, Lin "Xxs" Jing, Ye "BoBoKa" Zhibiao and captain Pan "Fade" Yi will be quarantined.
Song "Sccc" Chun took a different flight home and is not quarantined.
After winning the Ukraine Minor, members of Team Aster were stranded in Kiev because of issues
getting their U.S. visas approved. Winning the Ukraine Minor qualified Team Aster for the ESL
One Los Angeles Major. As Team Aster was still waiting for visa
approval, ESL postponed the Los Angeles Major because of COVID-19.
Team Aster is one of eight teams invited to compete in the Chinese DOTA2
Professional Association, with their first game schedule
for April 1. The online league was created in the wake of the coronavirus-related postponements.

Britons have revealed the top 30 things they love the most about
UK staycations with coastal walks topping the list followed by fish and
chips and rambling through the countryside.
Researchers asked UK adults what their favourite things about holidaying closer to home
are, with sightseeing coming fourth and visiting the
seaside fifth.
The rest of the top 10 comprises strolling along a pier
(sixth), a cold drink in a beer garden (seventh), Sunday lunches at the pub (eighth), avoiding airports (ninth)
and tucking into Mr Whippy ice creams (10th).
Britons have revealed the top 30 things they love the most about UK staycations, with coastal walks taking the No1 spot.
Pictured is Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex
Having picnics (12th), playing on penny pusher machines at the arcade (15th) and miniature golf (24th) also
feature in the top 30 ranking, along with not having to worry about
creepy crawlies as you do when you go abroad (28th).
But sadly, the British seaside tradition of buying sticks of
rock didn't quite make the top 30 list.
According to the research, commissioned by Sykes Holiday Cottages, more than eight in 10 adults have
been on a British holiday previously, and 29 per cent already have plans for one this year.

The study also found that Britons enjoy UK breaks for the nostalgia factor, the often shorter travel time, being able to
speak the language and the opportunity to take the dog
with them.
And more than a third reckon they are more likely to opt
for a holiday at home this year.
Nearly three-fifths are going on a staycation as they just want to get away from their home, while a
third want to avoid flying due to coronavirus.
A fifth are simply hoping to save a bit of money.

May I just say what a relief to discover someone who truly understands what
they are discussing on the net. You definitely realize how to bring an issue to light and make
it important. More and more people ought to read this and understand this side of your
story. It's surprising you're not more popular given that you surely possess the gift.

Sept 8 (Reuters) - A crying baby sloth was reunited with
its mother on Wednesday after the pair were separated following their rescue from wildfires in Bolivia.
Heartfelt video captures the moment the mum tenderly reunites with her baby, bending down in what appears to be a hug and a kiss.
Fleeing the wildfires ravaging the region, the sloths arrived at Trinidad.
According to reports, the mother and child were then temporarily separated after fleeing dogs.
The mother and child have undergone vet check-ups and are in good health.
They have been released to the Chuchini nature reserve.
More than a dozen forest fires have broken out in the lowlands of
Bolivia, threatening at least four nature reserves.
The fires in Santa Cruz's forests, which include three protected areas,
showed no sign of stopping on Wednesday despite
the work of hundreds of firefighters, residents
and volunteers.

Everyone knows keeping a toddler still can be next to impossible
- so how do you stop them from moving during
an X-ray?
It turns out that doctors can use a strange looking contraption called a Pigg-O-Stat to keep control of wriggly little ones.
And a viral tweet of adorable youngsters being squished into the
clear tube, which appears to be attached to a table has left Twitter
users unable to 'stop laughing', after it was shared on Twitter by a user from Canada.
Three pictures show adorable youngsters inside the Pigg-O-Stat, which has
been produced for the medical field since the 1960s, and originates in the US.
The 'pediatric immobilizer' is not routinely used by
the NHS any longer.
Pictures of young children inside a device to keep them still while they're having an X-ray have left

Thousands of people have commented on the Tweet with one saying that the name of the US patented product was
funny in itself.
They wrote: 'A piggo-stat? Whoever made and named it that was giggling for the
next ten years of their lives'
Others said it made them 'laugh' but they also felt sorry for the babies in the pictures and someone else compared
the device was also compared to a 'blender.'
Some parents even shared their own experiences of when their children had to use on of the contraptions.
One Twitter user said they couldn't 'stop laughing' after finding out about the
X-ray device
Some people loved the name of the device and said it must have
made the makers 'giggle'
Others laughed at the pictures but also felt sorry for the confused
babies inside the device
This person thought the Pigg-O-Matt, which has been in use since the 1960s, was
'kinda scary'
One person wrote: 'My first kid had one of these.
They didn't warn me. I bawled my eyes out when they put him
in it because he was so scared.
'The pics are hella funny, but man being there in person is torture.
U feel helpless...& the kid looks at you like they're gonna mollywhop you after they get out!'
However one father hit back at those saying it wasn't funny, and said:
'Everyone criticizing people for laughing needs to relax.
'Yes I have a kid need to be in one for a chest X-ray, yes they screamed and cried.
They screamed and cried just as hard when I wouldn't let them drink out of the dogs bowl.'
One parent shared said their child had to be put in one of the devices and that it was a stressful experience for them, although they did
admit the pictures were funny
This father said his child screamed in the device but no more than when they tried to drink out of the dog's bowl and
were stopped
The Pigg-O-Stat's makers explain how it's meant to prevent children from moving and becoming exposed to radiation while being scanned.
Their website explains that because it does not rely on automated machinery, X-ray technicians and pediatricians have full control
over the setup.'
When using the device children should only be wearing their nappy
and someone has to hold their arms up while they're placed on the seat at the right level.
By confining the child, or immobilizing them, the makers explain it keeps the procedure short and makes sure the youngster is safe throughout.
Most commonly in the UK, very young babies who have
to have X-rays are put in padded cribs so that
they cannot hurt themselves and to keep them still.

For most, the horrors of the Second World War will never be more than history learned from the pages of a textbook.
But for a few, the terror of Hitler's regime is etched into memories which still have the power to reduce them to
tears more than seven decades on.
This is the emotional moment survivors of the Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp, in central Germany,
broke down while revisiting the site 72 years after
it was liberated by Allied troops.
Marian Wach, from Poland, broke down as he was taken to see a cremation oven used to burn the bodies of some of the 20,000 who died here
Mr Wach is one of just a handful of people who spent time in the camp and
are forever haunted by their experiences inside
Petro Fedorowitsch Mischuk, a Ukrainian survivor of Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp, breaks down in tears
as he visits 72 years after it was liberated by the Allies
Mr Wach was also overcome by emotion while laying flowers
at a brass memorial to those who did not survive their time at Mittelbau-Dora
Mr Mischuk, who wore a striped uniform similar to the ones given to prisoners at
the camp, speak with fellow survivor Pierre Berg, from France
In one particularly arresting image, former inmate Marian Wach, from Poland, wipes tears from his eyes as he is confronted with the sight of a cremation oven.
In another Petro Fedorowitsch Mischuk, from Ukraine, dabs tears from his
eyes using a striped cap of the kind prisoners were forced to wear.

Both men were present along with a handful of other former camp detainees to lay
flowers next to a brass memorial honouring those who died.
Mittelbau-Dora originated as an external unit of Buchenwald, one of the first and largest concentration camps on German soil.
It was established as a concentration camp in its own right in the summer of 1943 -
when it was known as Dora - and existed for just over a year and a half.
Around 60,000 people were brought to work at this camp, in central Germany,
where V2 rockets were manufactured. Of those, around 20,000 died
Mittelbau-Dora was initially used to house political prisoners,
but as the Allies liberated nearby camps, Jews and
other 'undesirables' were transferred there
Mr Mischuk flew a Ukrainian flag during a meeting to mark 72 years since Allied troops freed
him from Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp
The site was used to produce V-2 rockets - the powerful missiles
that the Germans used to attack Allied cities -
after a RAF bombing raid destroyed the factory where they were previously made.
Mr Berg laid flowers to join other tributes left at the camp,
which now houses a museum documenting the horrors it was witness to
Inmates were initially housed by the SS in the Mittelwerk, as the
tunnels intended to be the new underground rocket production site were called.
Although some prisoners were moved to an above-ground barracks when they
were completed in January 1944, many carried on sleeping underground until much
later.
With no means of sanitation except oil barrels - and alongside the punishing labour of
digging the tunnels - conditions were terrible,
and many inmates died of hunger and thirst.
People from concentration camps around Germany were specially selected and moved to Dora to begin production of the rockets in January
1944.
The exhausted prisoners who had built the tunnels were shipped out to a
group of approximately 35 sub-sites, which together were known as the Mittelbau-Dora complex.
Inmates were mainly political prisoners from Poland, the Soviet Union and France.
There were also people from races the Nazis saw as 'inferior',
including Jews and Roma.
The number of Jews dramatically increased towards the end of 1944, as the
Nazis began to evacuate camps to the east because of the advancing Red Army.
Floral tributes lay on a memorial stone with the names of the different
races and religions of people who were kept there
Alexander Bytschok, from Ukraine, also wore a striped prisoner suit along with a
number which was assigned to every inmate by the Nazis in an attempt to dehumanise them
American soldiers and medics lead emaciated prisoners out of
the camp after it was liberated on April 11, 1945
Soldiers inspect a V1 rocket found at the camp. Prisoners were
used to build the weapons, as well as digging tunnels used in launching them
With a population boom straining resources, and combined with horrendous winter
conditions, the death rate shot up.
In early 1945, as the Nazi regime began to collapse, guards evacuated the inmates of Mittelbau-Dora to other
camps including Bergen-Belsen in northern Germany.
During these horrendous death marches, people who could not keep up were simply shot, and many others died of starvation.
Due to these evacuations, there were very few inmates left when the Americans finally liberated Mittelbau-Dora on April 11, 1945.
Out of approximately 60,000 people who had worked in the camp complex, some 20,000 died.
THE BOMBS THAT RAINED DOWN DEATH: NOTABLE STRIKES BY V-2 ROCKETS
The first ever V-2 strike came on the morning of 8 September 1944, landing in Charentonneau à Maison-Alfort
on the edge of a newly-liberated Paris, and killing six people.
A few hours later that same day, a V-2 struck Chiswick, in west London, killing three and injuring 17.
A third strike just a few seconds later hit a field outside Epping,
Essex, leaving no-one hurt or injured.
Clean-up crews salvage what they can from the ruins of buildings destroyed by a V-2 rocket in Hornsey, north London, in November 1944
Initially British politicians tried to cover up the new threat,
blaming gas explosions, but this ruse was quickly seen through, and people began to refer to V-2s sardonically as 'flying gas pipes'.
On 8 March 1945, a V-2 hit Smithfield Market in London. Many of the victims fell through the ruined building onto the railway below.
Women and children who had gone to the meat market to buy rabbits were killed, putting
the final death toll for the bomb at 110.
The worst attack on Britain came on 25 November 1944, when a V-2 hit a Woolworths
department store in New Cross, south-east London, mid-afternoon, killing 168.

A Danish student who was dubbed a ‘real-life Cinderella' after leaving one
of her golden stilettos at the future king's birthday bash has found her very own 'Prince Charming'.
Anne-Sofie Tornso Olesen left one of her high heels at the end of Prince Christian of Denmark's 18th birthday party in October last year.
Unlike in the fairy tale, Anne-Sofie's missing shoe was returned not by the Prince but by a postman, after a picture
of the heel was posted by the royal family on social media.
However, Anne-Sofie has since found love in 20-year-old Nikolas Kolding, who
works at Tivoli Gardens amusement park in the Danish capital Copenhagen.
‘We met in Tivoli,' she said. ‘I was out with my friend.
I thought he looked cute, so I went up to him and asked for
his socials.
'He took me on the most adorable date a few days later'
- a picnic in the forest.
The 19-year-old actress added: ‘To me, he is like royalty.'
Anne-Sofie meeting the then Danish Queen Margrethe II at Prince Christian's
18th birthday party. She left her golden stiletto at the palace - although it was not returned to her by the Prince
The Danish student has now found her own Prince Charming in Nikolas Kolding who works at Tivoli Gardens amusement park in Copenhagen
Anne-Sofie's golden high heel was returned to her after the royal family published an Instagram photo of
the shoe found at Christiansborg Palace in October last year
Actress Anne-Sofie (pictured left), joked leaving the shoe
at the party 'was meant to be a fairytale ending à la Cinderella.' Pictured
right: Prince Christian
Anne-Sofie was invited to Prince Christian's party to represent the area where she lives outside the Danish capital, having won the invitation in a tombola.
She sported a sheer black dress at the reception and even greeted Denmark's then Queen Margrethe II, her son, Crown Prince
Frederik and his son Prince Christian, who were all oblivious
to her 'funny' attempt to steal the show.
The actress said at the time: 'I thought it was a bit funny myself, and
I talked to my family and friends about it before, and they agreed that I
should do it. It's a chance you won't get again.
'It's not because I think that now I'm going to marry
him, but I kind of hoped that someone would think it was funny,
and then it also creates attention for the royal house.'
The student did speak to the Prince at his celebration, although
she couldn't remember the exact conversation.
'I don't really remember what I asked about, because I was so confused,
but I think it had something to do with what he thought about the whole thing
- and about having invited all those people into the castle,' she said.
